2009-07-14The main purpose of this survey is to find out about the public’s views regarding a law, which redefines the authorities of military and civilian tribunals, a law approved by Parliament and recently ratified by the president despite some reservations. The survey also focused on a number of other issues such as the power of military courts, the prospect of trial of former President Kenan Evren and the military’s interference in the political realm. The public’s satisfaction of the course of their lives and Turkey was also among the survey’s focus.
The poll was conducted from July 10 to 14, 2009 by telephone among a random national sampling of 1297 adults residing in cities, towns and villages. The margin of error for the overall poll is 2,75 percentage points, at a 95 percent confidence level.
